Martin studied Philosophy, History, as well as Theater-, Film-, and Media Studies in Bielefeld/Germany and Vienna/Austria. Subsequently, he pursued a doctoral degree at the Institute for Human Movement Science at Hamburg University, while working at the faculty of cultural sciences at the Paderborn University.
He currently resides in Vienna/Austria, where he works at a middle school as a teaching-fellow for Teach for Austria. Apart from that, he also teaches martial arts and continues his research on Korean martial arts, cultural theory, theater and performance studies, and praxeology. He currently holds the 4th Dan issued by the Kukkiwon/World Taekwondo headquarter. In 2019, he was selected for a UNESCO International Center of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement scholarship and participated in the 3rd Martial Arts Research Initiative for Experts (MARIE) in Chungju, Republic of Korea. Martin is also part of the “Sport-for-Development” expert pool of the German Olympic Sport Confederation (DOSB). He is speaker of the German Association for Sports Science Martial Arts Commission.
